New India Church of God was established in 1976 under the leadership of its co-founders, Rev. Dr. R. Abraham and Rev. V.A. Thampy. The organization is registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act, 1955. The organization has under its ambit more than 2500 established churches along with other welfare initiatives like Bethesda Children Homes (Orphanages), Bethesda Tailoring Institutes (destitute homes), Tejas (street children feeding programs in Metro cities), Bethesda Theological Colleges, rehabilitation centres for AIDS and drug victims among others.
The organization made its foray into the educational space with Bethesda Christian Academies, which are primary, secondary and senior secondary schools in 5 locations in the country.
Rev. R. Abraham is the co-founder and General Secretary of New India Church of God. He is the Chairman of Bethesda Christian Academies. He is a Board Member of the All India Council of Christian Education. He is also member of a number of international organizations and has travelled extensively across 30 countries, for working with similar organizations abroad and as a speaker in various seminars and conferences on welfare and education needs in India.
